The silly planets are at it again, this time Mercury is in the spotlight during Leo season, how appropriate.
This Mercury Retrograde in Leo will run 7/17 to 8/11 (recently and often-channeled numbers for me, a sign we need to pay attention!)
It’s okay to be frustrated during this time, a lot of it will be, but there’s more to it —you’re more powerful than you think!
The magic we work with daily is nuanced, as is your situation. As with any channeled message from me, take what you need and leave the rest.
Navigating the Cosmos
Mercury is our fast-moving planet, represented by the Magician card in the tarot. Mercury is about communication, perception of the world, time, and space, and retrogrades once a quarter.
The Magician card has a magically powerful person behind a table, tools laid bare. When this card is pulled, we’re asked to reevaluate what we already know and how to use it to conjure power and magic in our lives, especially when we question our place in the world.
The thing about Mercury Retrograde is that it just amplifies what we’re experiencing; it’s not the causation.
So, when you feel your communications have taken a plunge, you’re feeling extra misunderstood, and you can’t decipher what’s up or down, you’re not alone. Retrogrades for (any) planets shine a light on what has been frustrating in your life and ask you to deal with it.
But you’re the Magician! You have the tools to navigate.
Think about Venus Retrograde back in March. Think back to that time, was your personal value being called into question? Do you feel differently now? That retrograde asked work of us, delivering us the results of that work here on Earth, making it so.
It’s no different once a quarter with Mercury, though not always as intense and certainly not as long.
Retrogrades, while confronting and grounding in nature, offer an incredible mirror to reflect on the tools before us. We are not disconnected from our world, spirit, or the universe. The planets are not separate from our energy.
It’s easy to get caught up in the idea that Mercury Retrograde is going to ruin your life, but the truth is much simpler: these issues already existed. You don’t need to solve it right now or even have all the answers, despite the persistent annoyance this retrograde illuminates.
I’m the Problem, It’s Me
This is an excellent time to journal, communicate with yourself, and reconnect with aspects of yourself that you miss or yearn for. Yeah, it’s easy to blame Mercury for all our current issues, but that’s not necessarily the truth of it.
What makes this retrograde particularly challenging? What parts are issues amplified that you may have been avoiding? Journal about it. Meditate on it. Express it in some way. Communication is difficult right now, but not impossible.
Consider the energy of the Magician as part of your work!
The Magician is crucial because it reminds you that you have the tools, you are the magic. He points up to the cosmos and down to Earth, as above so below. Everything has a place and is connected. Utilize the tools in your toolbox, reflect the seasons in your work, and connect with all aspects of yourself. What are your intentions—they’re not separate pieces!
While the underlying message of this is encouraging positivity, I’m not one of those 'love and light' practitioners. I’d say I’m more love and fight.
Love is essential, but so is taking care of yourself. I’m not perfect, nor perfectly healed. I just decided to stop being passive in my life.
Life isn’t happening to me. I am the Magician.
Spiritual Homework
You don’t have to accept Mercury Retrograde as the cause of all the issues. You can change what no longer works.
If you haven’t evaluated why these themes of excessive frustration pop up once a quarter, now is the time to fight back and carry that fight into the rest of your life.
While writing this, I pulled the Three of Cups and the Three of Pentacles in reverse. What may be missing from this collective is sharing their fight with their community and learning to lean on people, versus doing it all alone. We’re not meant to do anything singularly, so don’t!
Teamwork makes the dream work.
Discuss things with others, bounce ideas off them, and work through your next phase. Love yourself and others enough to fight and put an end to the nonsense you don’t like and choose differently.
Communicate with yourself and others, especially when it’s hard.
We don’t have to be scared of our feelings, caring deeply for others, and giving the middle finger to The Man.
There will always be problems, heartbreak, difficulties, and trying circumstances. Truthfully, comfort is a luxury we’re not afforded at every moment in our lives. We’re often solving one problem to the next—the catch is we’re able to make it better for ourselves by using our tools and conjuring magic with the people who understand and love us through it all.
Love and fight with all your might.
